A rotary evaporator machine is an instrument used for evaporating solvents under vacuum. 
It is comprised of a heating bath with a rotating flask, in which the liquid is spread as a thin film over the hot wall surfaces and thus evaporates easily. The rate of evaporation is controlled by the bath temperature, size of the flask, pressure of distillation and speed of rotation. The machine allows faster and gentler evaporation of solvents, even when operated by an amateur. The solvent that remains after the process can be separated by treating the sample with even deeper vacuums, on an even more tightly sealed system and at a higher temperature.
